Purpose
As far as I know, Neuspeed made them as did Hör Technologies and Weitec (sp?). But today (2002) and for the past few years no one has been making them. In July 2001 I actually spoke to a Neuspeed representative at Waterfest and informed him of the need for (and money to be madeby ) making Fox lowering springs again, but he said it will not make sense to them, due to the number of springs they'd have to make, and the lack of demand out there (in his, and Neuspeed's view). Maybe if enough people e-mail Neuspeed, they will make another batch...
For starters, there might be some old sets still sitting around at various shops in Canada and the USA. Call your local Neuspeed dealers, check newspapers that sell used parts, and anywhere else you can think of.
Cutting springs: I have no experience with this, so cannot relay any solid information. I do know that if you cut off too many coils, the spring will no longer remain seated when the car is jacked up, which is a big problem. Furthermore, when cutting, it is highly adviseable to use a "cutting wheel" of some sort, rather than a torch, because you do not want to weaken the metal.
Adapting other springs: It has been suggested, that in theory, the following might work:
Coilovers: no one makes a kit that will directly fit the Fox (even though some places advertise that they do). Recently (March 2002), there is someone who is trying out a setup from Shine Racing Service. I don't know any more about this.
Here are some pictures that might prove useful, if trying to make custom-wound springs, your cutting or own, or something else. Thanks
