Purpose

Either your current transmission is no longer healthy, or you want better acceleration our of your Fox.

This page lists most manual transmissions that will fit the VW Fox.  I've heard the Audi 4000 ones are built the toughest, but I haven't seen anything to justify this claim.  The Quantum turbo diesel one (3M / 9Q) has the tightest-geared 1-3 and a taller 5th for good highway cruising.  The Audi 4000 2P has the tightest gearing of all, and the 2M and 5M found in 1.7L 8v Quantums and 4000s has the tallest 5th - 0.600.
