Volkswagen Fox.
The following information is taken [quoted] from a 1991 Canadian Volkswagen Fox broshure.

Discovering a higher intelligence.

When you drive a Fox, you'll soon discover what so many smart, value-conscious owners already know:  it's one very clever breed of automobile.  Clever because while it embodies all the characteristics of a practical family sedan, it absolutely refuses to act like one.
For example, while Fox happily transports four good-sized adults with head and legroom to spare, it also moves with an aggressively sure-footed style.  Under its hood is a highly efficient 1.8 litre overhead cam engine that's ready for action when you are.  Coupled with a 4-speed, close ratio manual transmission and front-wheel drive, it helps Fox generate one of hte best power-to-weight ratios in its class.  Which means Fox can really sprint!
And because Fox is also a Volkswagen, it has the kind if fit and finish you'd expect from a German engineered sedan.  It also possesses Volkswagen's renowned road manners - the precise cornering and agile handling which are the happy result of MacPherson independent struts cobined with rack and pinion steering.  And for sure stopping power, you can depend on Fox's power-assisted front disc and self-adjusting rear drum brakes.
Discover a unique blend of practical and quick-witted intelligence.  Discover Fox for yourself.

Inside the heart of the Fox.

Fox comes well equipped for just about any occasion with driver and passenger comforts aplenty.
There's no need to add a lot of expensive options.  Fox is loaded with creature comforts like fully reclining, body-contoured cloth seats, noise dampening cut-pile carpeting and an electric window defroster.  And like all Volkswagens, Fox has a superbly organized, uncomplicated instrument panel and dash.  Lights, wipers, heater/defroster, air vents - all driver controls are clearly marked, easy to use and easy to reach.
There's also ample head and legroom front and back, including 104.3 cm of legroom in the front, and 76.8 cm in the rear.  In fact, the list of occupant comforts goes on and on.
If Fox's attention to detail surprises, it shouldn't.  After all, it is a Volkswagen!
Volkswagen Fox.  Surprising performance, unexpected value.

Volkswagen engineers control.

Some of Fox's most subtle engineering and safety refinements are hidden from view.  For example, the dual brake curcuits are diagonally split (left front with right rear, right front with left rear) to allow more balanced stopping, in the rare event either should fail.
Another important safety feature is negative steering roll radius.  The Fox incorporates steering geometry that helps keep you in control in the event of a sudden tire failiure or when braking on dissimilar surfaces.  On a conventional car, a rapid tire deflation would pull the vehicle to one side.  Negative steering roll raduis counteracts this tendency, helping the car maintain stability and enhancing driver control.
Fox's rear axle design uses a unique torsion beam stabilizer, which combines the stability of a conventional solid axle with the flexibility of independent suspension.  The result is a smoother, more stable ride over rough or uneven road surfaces.

Volkswagen engineers safety.

Volkswagen's concern for your safety and security is evidenced in Fox's solid "safety cell" body and in the energy-absorbing "crumple" areas that are built into both the front and rear of the body.
Wide, protective side beams provide further protection along the driver and passenger doors.  The bumpers are built to smoothly absorb impact, as is hte specially designed steering column and dashboard.
All in all, Volkswagen Fox is one very safety conscious automobile.
