The above pictures are of prototypes which eventually developed into the Gol.

VW Brasilia (1973-1982)

VW Gol is the replacement for VW Brasilia (and later for VW Beetle). VW Brasilia strongly resembles the VW 412 Station Wagon but which is actually a rebodied Beetle. The engine is the old flat-four, air cooled, rear-mounted, 1584 cc.  Another best seller: close to 1,000,000 of VW Brasilia were produced.
