ABOUT:
Canadian artist E.COLI is behind the project CONTRA, which meshes elements of post-breakcore, digital hardcore, minimalism amongst others. Her compositions perfectly fit as the soundtrack to the bleakest sci-fi cyberpunk movie that was never made, invoking themes of chaos, rebellion and quiet desperation.
First working with other online artists in the notorious DEATH-FORCE collective, CONTRA established a presence online on sites like mp3.com with early material, heard on some cassette and vinyl releases through AKLASS or BEERGUT RECORDINGS.
E. COLI had been in contact with D-TRASH Records for many years before approaching them about releasing a disc. The first of many, "Nemesis Enforcer" set the bar for the glitchy phreaking-core that was to come on subsequent albums: 2001 "Vector Sigma", 2003 "Social Darwinism", 2005 "Enter The Winter", 2007 "Unknown Animals", with an upcoming release set for late 2008/early 2009.
CONTACT:
CONTRA RECORDINGS:Since establishing a heavy foothold in the roster of D-TRASH Records, in 2007 E. Coli and D-TRASH Records will began work on a sub-label concept of D-TRASH, called CONTRA RECORDINGS. The material includes a myriad of solo projects and ideas produced by either E. COLI or other knowing members in this ultraunderground noise music project.
CONTRA RECORDINGS will not follow any pre-conceived expectation of its parent label, it will see a parallel yet unique vision and expression of the electronic music underground.
