NEW! VARIOUS ARTISTS "The Virus Has Been Spread" compilation, coming May 1st 2007!

"ATR's legacy of ultra-politicized heavily-distorted electronic/d'n'b punk/HC carries on throughout the decades. Proof of this is that six years after ATR's end, the genre is still alive and kicking (literally!) and 16 bands converged in 2007 to put this tribute CD together under the one label that probably best represents the movement, the genre and the attitude itself: Canadian D-Trash records. I applaud the tribute and the spirit behind it." - ChainDLK.com / April 2007

Our label D-TRASH has been around for close to 10 years now and we are really excited to announce the upcoming release of our 7th pressed CD, which will be "The Virus Has Been Spread - A Tribute to ATARI TEENAGE RIOT".  For any who've been along for the ride of our record label knows the impact that ATR played and we are more than psyched to finally realize this chapter in D-TRASH Records history.

The CD is released May Day (May 1st) 2007 and features D-TRASH RECORDS artists and friends all joining together to do some great covers of a band we are all big fans of.  You can now  order the CD from D-TRASH RECORDS now and it will be mailed out promptly upon release. You can also order the CD through www.stormingthebase.com.   We are working on getting it up on Itunes.com as we post this.

But who are ATR?  In 1992, German band ATARI TEENAGE RIOT, stormed the world with their new breed of punked out electronic noise and their direct approach to politicizing music, in the fine underground spirit of DIY tactics. ATR & many other important figures spearheaded the “digital hardcore” movement and sound– thus spawning many like-minded labels and artists who were left inspired by what ATR was doing.

After the crash and burn of ATR in 2001, there was a void left by ATR’s departure from the scene - The scene and the world’s politics changed… much so that in ways digital hardcore’s revolutionary and abrasive approach was necessitated even more. In ATR's wake the new international scene of artists have taken the digital hardcore formula and sound and changed it into their own monsterous creation. the same is found on this 16 track collection of ATR’s most classic songs reworked by D-TRASH Records bands and friends.

But why an A.T.R. tribute album at this point?  The idea came up early in D-TRASH RECORDS history and it was always declined, it seemed almost too obvious. Now at this point, years later we are still doing what we’re doing, gave up worrying about things like that and thought it would be a fun thing to try. Better a label like D-TRASH RECORDS to do this, than in 10 years when people finally catch on to what A.T.R. did, and get an all-star lineup of nu-metal or emo bands to do this.

BIO ONE-SHEET FOR PRESS/DISTROS

On “The Virus Is Spread”, U.S. band RABBIT JUNK starts off the ‘fest with a furious stomping of “Start The Riot”. Swedish trio 64revolt takes “You Can't Hold Us Back" into a new-wave club beat direction! While HANSEL’s symphonic approach to “Ghost Chase" transforms the original into something much different!  While SCHIZOID makes a final and exhaustingly brutal take on album closer "The Future Of War",

Part of the charm to these exciting tracks are how one could hear the different genders & nationalities in each, alike how you could hear the male/female AND German elements in ATR - in that way these songs stay true to the classic originals.
