DK Dance : DK Dance

Just when I more or less thought I had heard most every spin on the digital hardcore sound, D-Trash sends this release by French group DK Dance my way, slapping that silly notion out of my head. And I gotta say, it was a very pleasant and refreshing slap.

DK Dance takes the traditional DHC formula of gabber beats and yelling foreign-distorto vocals and adds in a diverse and unique blend of slower, noiserock/ coldwave and even metal elements which is simply fucking brilliant. Unlike many of their peers, DK Dance make songs that seem rather thought out and complete. Songs that groove, songs that sound different, songs that really have a unique breathe of their own. While many DHC and coldwave bands seem to focus more on overall assault, energy, speed and aesthetic, DK Dance deliver those goods while still maintaining a better songwriting edge as well. Instead of sounding like a guy with a laptop, they sound like a BAND.

It sounds like I'm pissing on DHC, but I'm not trying to. Groups like ATR and Ambassador 21 will always kick ass in my book, but I think this is just a much more mature progression for the genre. I mean, I just can't imagine tracks as beautiful and grooving as "Mai" or "Sommes Nous" coming from DHC Meinhof. DK Dance takes the aggression, ferocity and spirit of DHC, but blends it with more emotion, depth and general kickassness than many of its current torch bearers. You can download this for free at dtrash so do so!!! Highly fucking recommended for sure! -Royce Icon
