for DTRASH31 - "The Tension And
The Darknesst"

Riddle me this: does a side project
still fall under the side project classification if the project in
question is a one-man band from the mind of a guy whose main gig is
already a one-man band? In this case, Exist is sliced, diced and stiched
together by J Schizoid, the man who slices, dices and stiches the
Catherine Yates approved, electronically eviscerated noise feast that is
Schizoid. The major difference is that Exist is far more musically
conventional than his namesake alter ego. Where Schizoid rocks and shocks
like Fantomas copulating with Kid 606 in a tool shed, Exist sounds more
like the languid pulls off the after sex cigarettes. 'The Tension...' has
more of a European Industrial feel, only warmer and along the lines of The
Young Gods, Ec8or or Front 242 going nuts with a sampler, complete with
song based structures. However, Merzbow-ish, erratic sound terrorism does
rear it's head at times, which is always a neat surprise in more
structured pieces.
(PS. EXIST not just J.Schizoid, the other 1/2 is .miQ Schmidt from
Revolutionary Independent Productions, you should check his stuff out!)
