Welcome to STUDENT LOAN HELL!!!!

Here's what has happened so far.

Sundie seeks to go to school, but has no money for it. Hence, he applies to OSAP an the federal gov't for loans. Sundie gets them, then goes to school. (I should point out at this time that i ALWAYS intended to pay. And still do.) Sundie graduates, with flying colours, and in debt about $15000 Canadian. Weeeeeee! That was December, 1994. February, 1995, Sundie gets a job full time at Passport Online. Calls up CIBC, seeking to start paying. Of course, this is 5 months earlier than he had to start paying, but hey. I was informed that they didn't want my money yet. "Well," thought I. "That's nice." So! They send me nice little forms requesting information about what bank i would like my payments drawn out of, blah blah blah. Unfortunately, they don't give me a choice about how much i would like to pay, etc. Regardless, i fill them out, send them back.

I hear nothing for months.

Late December '95. My mom phones me to say there's registered mail for me at the post office up by her house. "Oh,", says i. "What could it be?" I go up, pick them up. It's from your friend and mine, CIBC. What do they want? Why, all of the money, right now. I promptly faint.

Two days after that, the bank account that my girlfriend and i opened for the loan payment is overdrawn. She finds out that CIBC has been trying to take money out of it. (without notifying us, really. And it's at the same bank, for god's sake) So, they tried to take money out twice. Which resulted in overdrawn charges twice. Which is approx $95.

Anyhow. I'm about to go call this rep person who started leaving messages 2 days before christmas that it was very important to phone her. Arggh. I'll let you know what happens.
